Sandplay South Africa Congress Hippo Lakes
4th - 8th September 2025

As mental health professionals, we often carry the silent weight of everyone else’s pain while navigating our own with composure and resolve. We work in different modalities, under different pressures, in different corners of the country—but we are united by the same mission: to hold space, to heal, to restore. And yet, too often, we do this alone. This is why gathering—really gathering—matters. Not just through a forwarded article or a quick exchange of notes, but by sitting around a table, sharing the unspoken truths, and daring to admit that even the strongest among us need to exhale.

A congress is not just an event. It’s a crossing-over point—a space where professionals step out of isolation and into collective strength. It is a rare invitation to be both learner and human; to admit that we don’t always know, that we sometimes doubt, and that we yearn to understand more. It’s where we remember we are not just facilitators of healing—we are also participants in it. And as we earn CPD points and gain new knowledge, we also earn back something deeper: perspective, passion, and purpose. We witness one another’s fragility and resilience and are reminded why we chose this path.

This September, take the leap. Invest not only in your professional growth but in your personal reconnection with the heart of this work. Come and sit with fellow therapists, psychologists, counsellors, and healers. Join us at the Sandplay Therapy Congress at Hippo Lakes. Come not because you have the time—but because you need to remember why you care. Get in the car, book the flight, take the road. Healing needs community. And so do we.

Where Healers Gather, Depth Begins.

This is an opportunity for you to immerse yourself in the spirit of Sandplay in Africa and honor the beauty of therapy, whilst having the experience of a lifetime! Connect with fellow Sandplay Therapists, taste the incredible African cuisine, and listen to the sounds of the African night under a canopy of stars, breathtakingly visible in the Southern Hemisphere.

About Hippo Lakes

Hippo Lakes brings you the ultimate luxury African Safari experience. Situated in the spectacular Waterberg region, the lodge is uniquely nestled along the edge of a lake bank at the end of a long rugged ravine. The lodge offers you a unique safari wildlife encounter with an unusually large number of animals, birds and plant life.

Hippo Lakes lies within the malaria free UNESCO World Nature Site. Over 30 animal species roam the area including hippo, buffalo, wildebeest, leopard, giraffe, kudu, sable, eland, nyala, hyaena and wild dog. You also have the option to go on “Big 5” excursions to encounter lion, elephant and rhinos.

The greater Waterberg region is reported to have more rhino than all of Kenya and Hippo Lakes proudly support anti-poaching initiatives to keep this magnificent species viable.

The Waterberg is South Africa’s Eden. Tucked away in Limpopo province, the pristine, rugged and ancient Waterberg region has soaring mountain peaks, antediluvian rock formations, expansive savannah plains, dense riparian forests and plunging river valleys. Here iconic animals tend to outnumber its human counterparts.” – CNN Travel

Safety is key and rest assured, Hippo Lakes take great care in both the game drives and accommodations to keep you out of danger from the animals.
