What is Sandplay Therapy?

Sandplay Therapy is a powerful, in-depth psychotherapy that allows clients—both children and adults—to explore their inner world non-verbally. Through the arrangement of miniature figures in a tray of sand, individuals can express deep emotions, conflicts, and potentials in a safe and structured environment. Rooted in Jungian psychology, Sandplay is a modality that enables profound psychological transformation without the need for verbal interpretation, making it particularly effective for trauma work and self-discovery.

Jungian Sandplay Therapy is a psychotherapy that goes to the core of trauma to heal it on different levels. It is not only a modality where one discovers one’s inner self. It is much more and much deeper than that. It enables the pathway to one’s true, authentic Self, which is called the Individuation Process according to Jung. In other words, it entails the healing of trauma and emotional imbalances due to brain imbalances and more. For this exact reason one has to be a or have a qualification as a mental health professional (e.g. psychologist, Occupational Therapist, counsellor, social worker, play therapist, educational psychologist etc.), and can e.g. teachers not be accepted into the training program. This is also a requirement from AST, which cannot be overruled.

“Sandplay Therapy as an added modality has the power to access the unconscious, bypass verbal barriers, and facilitate deep-seated trauma healing. It empowers psychologists and counsellors to guide clients toward profound self-discovery, emotional integration, and lasting transformation.”

Continuing Professional Development (CPD)

Continuing Professional Development (CPD) refers to the process of continually developing and improving professional skills, knowledge, and expertise. It ensures that Mental Health Clinicians stay up to date in their field, enhancing career growth and maintaining industry standards.

Continuing Professional Development (CPD) training is essential for mental health practitioners for several reasons:

  1. Maintaining Competency – The field of psychology and mental health is constantly evolving with new research, therapeutic techniques, and ethical guidelines. CPD ensures practitioners stay updated and provide the best possible care.

  2. Ethical & Legal Requirement – Many professional boards and regulatory bodies require practitioners to complete a certain number of CPD hours to maintain their licenses.

  3. Enhancing Skills & Specializations – CPD allows professionals to refine their skills, explore new areas of expertise (e.g., trauma therapy, Sandplay Therapy, CBT, DBT), and expand their scope of practice.

  4. Improving Client Outcomes – Up-to-date knowledge leads to better client care, as practitioners can integrate the latest evidence-based strategies into their practice.

  5. Networking & Collaboration – CPD events, workshops, and seminars provide opportunities to connect with other professionals, share insights, and gain support.

  6. Professional Credibility & Growth – Engaging in CPD training demonstrates commitment to professional excellence, making practitioners more credible and marketable.

  7. Personal Development & Burnout Prevention – Learning new approaches and perspectives can keep practitioners engaged and motivated while preventing stagnation or burnout.
